Tennessee is thin at running back after its blowout win over Akron in Week 3.

The Vols dispatched the Zips, but at a cost. Cedric Tillman, Jabari Small and Dylan Sampson all exited early after suffering slight injuries. They were held out of the rest of the game, a move most considered to be merely a precaution.

That idea was reinforced Tuesday, when running backs coach Jerry Mack updated the status of the running back room.

That’s excellent news for Tennessee against a Florida team that has failed to stop the run this season. The Gators have allowed the second most yards per carry of any team in the SEC and the 7th most among Power 5 programs.

Small and Sampson practicing is the best news Tennessee fans could have hope for. The below quote sounds even better for Sampson’s chances.
