Tennessee is getting ready for an important season under coach Josh Heupel. Not many are picking the Volunteers to qualify for the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff field, but crazier things have happened.

QB Nico Iamaleava takes over the offense after appearing in the Vols’ bowl game to conclude the 2023 season.

We’ll see how he and his teammates look in Week 1 against Chattanooga on Saturday, August 31. We know how the Vols will look, though, as they took to social media to reveal their Week 1 uniform combination on Thursday afternoon.

As you can see below, the Vols will don their Smokey Grey alternate uniforms for the game against Chattanooga:

The Smokey Grey uniforms generally receive a bit of a mixed reaction from Vol Nation. But there’s little chance of the Vols losing to the Mocs while wearing these alternates.

Tennessee faces Chattanooga, NC State, Kent State and UTEP in nonconference play this year. The NC State game takes place on Sept. 7 in Charlotte and is called the Duke’s Mayo Classic.

The Vols face a tricky, but fairly manageable, SEC slate this year. A trip to Oklahoma kicks things off in Week 4. The Vols host Alabama on Oct. 19 and travel to Athens to face Georgia on Nov. 16.
