Tennessee star CB Colton Hood reportedly makes NFL Draft decision
Tennessee star cornerback Colton Hood is heading to the NFL Draft, according to a report by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Friday night.
Zenitz reported that “the current expectation” is that Hood will leave Tennessee and head to the draft next spring. Hood is a redshirt sophomore who was a 2nd-team All-SEC selection this season and a semifinalist for the prestigious Jim Thorpe Award.
The CBS Sports report said that Hood is looked at as “an early round prospect” by NFL scouts. Now, it looks like we’ll find out next spring how accurate that assessment of Hood is.
Hood was a tackling machine on the back end of the defense for Tennessee this season. He had 50 total tackles, 34 of them solo, with 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception during a banner regular season for the Volunteers.
If Hood does go pro, it would be his only season at Tennessee. He spent the 2024 season at Colorado and his redshirt season at Auburn in 2023.
Hood only appeared in 4 games for the Tigers during that first season before heading to Boulder. At Colorado last fall, Hood played in all 13 games, making 1 start, while collecting 24 tackles and 2 interceptions.
Now, it looks like he’s heading to the draft so he can play on Sundays next fall.
