Tennessee defensive back Kamal Hadden will miss the remainder of the 2023 season after undergoing season-ending surgery.

The Vols defensive back announced the news on Instagram Thursday afternoon. He didn’t specify the injury, but reports say it was shoulder related after he left Week 8 against Alabama with an “upper-body injury.”

His message on Instagram can be found below:

Hadden started the season slow but had surged back with a vengeance. He is one of Tennessee’s better players in coverage, but still runs into some problems with tackling and penalty issues that struck a nerve with some fans last season into this year.

But this loss will be felt quickly by Tennessee. Hadden has totaled 3 interceptions on the year with 19 tackles and 7 pass deflections. Hadden has played with his hair on fire the last few games especially.

Doneiko Slaughter and Gabe Jeudy-Lally are likely to start at CB moving forward.
