The Tennessee Volunteers struck first in Thursday’s Music City Bowl against Purdue.
The Vols took the early 7-0 lead after quarterback Hendon Hooker hit wide receiver Cedric Tillman for a 41-yard touchdown pass. For Tillman, it was his 7th straight game with a receiving touchdown — the longest in Tennessee football history.

The touchdown capped off a 4-play, 55-yard drive for the Volunteers.
Purdue received the ball first and was unable to convert on fourth down. Tennessee took over on downs, and it didn’t take Josh Heupel’s offense long to strike first.
The Volunteers are tied with the Boilermakers 7-7 with over 10 minutes left in the first quarter.
