Tennessee defeated Florida 23-17 in overtime on Saturday night.

The Gators got the ball first in overtime, but weren’t able to generate much momentum. They ended up missing a field goal attempt on 4th and 14.

Tennessee’s offense left little doubt on its possession in OT. The Vols powered to the goal line and ultimately won the game on a 1-yard touchdown run by Dylan Sampson.

It was a tough night for Tennessee’s offensive overall, but the Vols got going in the second half. Sampson scored 2 other touchdowns in regulation, which helped the Vols take a 17-10 lead at one point in the second half.

Florida was able to tie the game, but Tennessee ultimately prevailed. This is a huge win for the Vols, who needed a bounce-back performance after losing at Arkansas in Week 6. The win also gives Tennessee its second win over UF in the last 3 years. It’s the first time UT has won twice in a 3-year period against Florida since it won back-to-back games in 2003-04.

Tennessee will now prepare to host Alabama in Week 8 next weekend.
