Two former SEC standouts are without an NFL home, as the Tennessee Titans released cornerback Jonathan Joseph and long snapper Beau Brinkley on Tuesday.
Both are veteran players, particularly Joseph, who entered the league in 2006 as a first round pick out of South Carolina. Signed from the Houston Texans this offseason, Joseph was brought into Nashville to boost cornerback depth. Injuries forced him into a starting role, but struggles in recent games prompted the Titans to trade for Chargers cornerback Desmond King and let Joseph go. Joseph is a two-time Pro Bowler.
Brinkley never played in the SEC, but was part of the Missouri Tigers’ last season as a member of the Big 12. Brinkley was signed by the Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2012, and remained the team’s starting long snapper until this season. After coming off the reserve COVID-19 list, Brinkley had issues snapping the ball and was released.
It remains to be seen if either of these players find a new NFL home, but it won’t be in Nashville, Tennessee.
