Tennessee and UConn have come to an agreement to change their home-and-home series to a single game that will reportedly be played in Knoxville on Nov. 4, 2023. Tennessee will pay UConn $1.8 million for the contest according to FBschedules.com.

The two schools were originally planning to play a home-and-home series in 2015 and 2016. The athletic departments scheduled those games in 2008, but in 2014, the series was postponed.

In September, the programs agreed to change the matchup to just one game in Tennessee but set the date for Sept. 19, 2026. This week, they moved the game up three years to Nov. 2023.

By that season, UConn will be an independent football program again. The Huskies athletic department has decided to put its basketball program first and move into the Big East, which has no football league, thus giving the football team no other option but to be independent.

Tennessee already has two non-conference games scheduled for the 2023 season. Besides UConn, the Volunteers will visit the BYU Cougars on Sept. 2.
