Tennessee’s Uros Plavsic receives update on NCAA eligibility

One of the more frustrating eligibility sagas in recent years has involved Tennessee men’s basketball player Uros Plavsic, and his transfer from Arizona State.
Plavsic has had a choppy tenure on Rocky Top so far, mostly because of the NCAA. He enrolled at UT in May of last year, but he was inactive for the first 15 games of the 2019-20 season. In November, he was granted a travel waiver by the NCAA, which allowed him to join his teammates on road trips.
After his waiver for immediate eligibility was initially denied by the NCAA, the NCAA’s Committee for Legislative Relief ruled him eligible to compete immediately as a redshirt freshman.
The 7-footer is from Ivanjica, Serbia by way of Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Chattanooga. At ASU, he redshirted the 2018-19 season.
Tennessee Athletics Director Phil Fulmer said in a statement that he was thrilled about the news, and that Plavsic won’t lose a year of eligibility. He also applauded the compliance staff’s work on the matter.
The Vols return to action on Wednesday at Georgia.
