Terrell Owens is one of the best wide receivers ever to play in the NFL. He’s a Pro Football Hall-of-Famer and has numerous accomplishments on his resume.
He also spent some time with the Alabama program in 2017, where he was roped into a workout with then-freshman QB Tua Tagovailoa and some Alabama receivers one day.
As you can see below, Owens said during a recent media appearance that he knew after that workout that Tagovailoa was going to be a star:

“He comes out, he wasn’t as tall as I thought he was going to be … we was out there an hour and half … this dude was so impressive, dude, that when I left there, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh … honestly … this dude could probably play in the league right now,'” Owens said. “He hit every route. When I was running my routes, I was envisioning and I saw Steve Young throwing the ball to me.
“The only pass I corrected him on, it wasn’t an incompletion. It was the bang-8. When I came out of my bang-8, I ended up catching it on my hips. I said, ‘Tua, on this bang-8 … I want you to get in the habit of when we’re running these routes, taking game drops and visualizing a defense.’ … Obviously, you fast forward and he ended up coming in at halftime and winning the game when Jalen (Hurts) went out.”
As Owens mentions, Tua led Alabama to a second-half comeback in the national championship game later that year (with Owens in attendance). Now, we’ll see if Tagovailoa can become a star in the NFL, too.
