Texas made big news today in the country when the Longhorns defeated Michigan 31-12 in Ann Arbor.

That was a message sent to the rest of college football, but Texas wasn’t finished. The Longhorns capped off the day with a major recruiting victory.

Defensive lineman Myron Charles announced on social media that he would be joining the Longhorns.

Charles, a 4-star recruit, had been committed to Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles since June.

During his junior year last season, he had 29 tackles, 9.5 TFL’s, 8 QBH and 1.5 sacks as he helped Port Charlotte make it to the regional final in Florida’s 3S playoffs.

He is the 20th commitment to Texas for the 2025 class, with the Longhorns ranking 7th in the country. Leading the way in this Texas class are safety Jonah Williams and wide receiver Kaliq Lockett, who are ranked 7th and 12th nationally.

Murphy is the 17th rated defensive tackle in the class according to 247 Composite rankings. He is also the 22nd best player in the state of Florida and the 134 player overall.

The Longhorns have had as good of Saturday as a team can have in college football, and the team will look to keep things going next week against UTSA.

Here are some highlights from Charles’ junior season of high school football:
