We saw Texas Tech get off to a hot start in 2027 college football recruiting by landing 5-star EDGE LaDamion Guyton last week. With today’s news, the Red Raiders aren’t the only school in the Lone Star State cooking with gasoline early in the cycle.
Early Tuesday afternoon, 4-star offensive tackle DeMarrion Johnson announced via Twitter/X that he has committed to Texas A&M.
Here’s his official announcement:
Johnson, a native of Tyler, Texas, stands 6-foot-5 and weights 300 pounds. He slots No. 227 nationally, No. 30 in Texas and No. 22 among offensive tackles in 247Sports Composite rankings. He chose the Aggies over Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and — most importantly to Aggie faithful — Texas.

Johnson is the second official member of Texas A&M’s 2027 class, but somehow not the first with his last name in it. Quarterback Jayce Johnson (No. 61 overall, via 247Sports Composite) beat him to the punch by committing on Aug. 3.
The duo has given the Aggies the No. 9 spot in 247Sports’ 2027 recruiting class rankings, just ahead of Alabama. However, there’s a long way to go, evidenced by Sacramento State currently topping the charts. Regardless, Texas A&M is well-positioned to bring another strong batch of players to College Station when the time comes.
