Texas A&M edge rusher Cashius Howell treated his preseason All-SEC snub with the same vigor that he treats helpless offensive linemen.

The senior from Kansas City took the snub in stride when talking with reporters on Wednesday, with the 2025 season drawing closer. Last fall, the 6-foot-2, 248-pound wrecking ball created havoc in opposing teams’ backfields for Texas A&M, registering 40 tackles, 26 of them solo, to go with 4 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception.

Howell also showed off his versatility in 2024 by posting 7 pass deflections during his first year in the SEC.

On Wednesday, he showed off his ability to stay focused at the task at hand this fall while vowing not to forget what just happened with his preseason snub.

“Not necessarily surprised. You’re talking to a guy who was once rated 2,000th-best player in my class. I’m used to not getting picked and overlooked, so it just adds fuel to the fire for me. It makes me want to set more goals and strive to achieve those goals,” explained Howell.

Here is the full clip of Howell being under control yet showing his renewed determination:

Last season was Howell’s first in College Station after 3 years at Bowling Green, so perhaps it’ll just take another season of dominance in the SEC to get enough people’s attention. In his last season at Bowling Green in 2023, Howell recorded 27 tackles, 15 solo, and an eye-popping 9.5 sacks to go with a forced fumble.

He’ll be motivated to put up more monster numbers in 2025, perhaps more than ever after his preseason SEC snub. That can only mean good things for the Aggies and bad things for the rest of the SEC.
