Kevin Sumlin dismisses student assistant Michael Richardson

Kevin Sumlin dismissed student assistant Michael Richardson on Tuesday after the former player was involved in a pair of sideline incidents in Texas A&M’s bowl game.

Twice in the first half of the Aggies’ Liberty Bowl win over West Virginia, cameras caught Richardson striking West Virginia players. Richardson, who is on medical scholarship after suffering a spinal injury in 2012. After Richardson’s action were brought to Sumlin’s attention, he ordered Richardson to stay in the locker room after halftime.

Earlier on Tuesday, Richardson took to Twitter to issue an apology for his actions.

Dismissing Richardson wasn’t the only firing Sumlin did on Tuesday. After someone claiming to be working on Sumlin’s pool tweeted that they saw the coach on the phone, Sumlin had a quick response.
