Texas A&M lands basketball transfer in double-digit ACC scorer Tyrece Radford

Texas A&M has landed a transfer from an ACC veteran, who as a third-year sophomore last season averaged in double figures.
Tyrece Radford shared on social media that he is transferring from Virginia Tech to Texas A&M.
Radford averaged 12.2 points and 5.9 rebounds last season, when he helped the Hokies make the NCAA Tournament. He earned All-ACC honorable mention.
“After discussions with my family and closest mentors, I have decided to continue pursuing my dreams by transferring to Texas A&M and finishing what I started 3 years ago,” he wrote.
Radford arrives at College Station following legal trouble at Virginia Tech. The Roanoke Times reported that Radford was suspended from the team Jan. 25 after being arrested by Blacksburg police a day earlier on charges of first-offense driving while intoxicated and carrying a concealed weapon. He was suspended for 4 games.
Earlier this week, the Times reported, Montgomery County General District Court Judge Gino Williams dismissed charges about a positive reading on an ignition interlock device, even though it was revealed at Monday’s hearing that Radford had a second positive reading on his car’s device on July 3. The device tests for the presence of alcohol in the driver’s breath.
