Texas A&M added a transfer commitment from former UIC guard Jace Carter Wednesday. Carter is the Aggies’ first incoming transfer commitment of the offseason.

Carter, who announced he would be transferring from Chicago in mid-March, was a force for the Flames last season especially, averaging 16.6 points and 7 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.

Carter moves well off the ball and was a strong defender for the Flames in 2022. And while his numbers dipped from his freshman year, he’s a good 3-point shooter as well.

Texas A&M has been on the verge of something very special for 2 years now. The Aggies made a strong run in the 2022 SEC Tournament before falling to a red-hot Tennessee squad. They had hype entering 2023, but fell to an equally hot Penn State team in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Adding Carter is a good move in the right direction towards retaining some momentum heading into next season.
