Texas A&M lost a key defensive player Saturday when LB Anthony Hines suffered a leg injury in the loss to Clemson, and it was announced Wednesday that it was a season-ending injury.

As a freshman last season, he had 33 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble in 13 games and was named to the Freshman All-SEC Team. He made a season-high seven tackles against Auburn, and had a sack and four tackles in the regular season finale at LSU.

Hines was injured on a touchback play, as coach Jimbo Fisher called it a lower leg injury after it appeared to happen with about two minutes remaining in the game on Saturday. It’s a shot to the depth for the Aggies on defense because they’ve already lost LB Ikenna Okeke earlier.
