From Fort Myers, Florida, Watkins plays at IMG Academy in Bradenton, a quick drive up I-75. A freshman, Watkins is listed at 5-10, 160 pounds. At this stage, Watkins does not have a star rating on the 247Sports Composite. His 247Sports recruiting profile lists scholarship offers from Florida (Dan Mullen coaching staff), Florida State, Georgia Tech and Central Michigan, noting he is the cousin of NFL wide receiver Sammy Watkins.
