Texas A&M’s police department has released a statement to social media after a trooper from the state’s Department of Public Safety was shown on ESPN cameras yelling at South Carolina wide receiver Nyck Harbor during an incident in Kyle Field’s northeast tunnel.
With less than a minute to go in the first half, LaNorris Sellers threw a pass to Harbor, who took off for an 80-yard TD as South Carolina took a 27-3 lead. Harbor then ran down the tunnel of Kyle Field while celebrating with teammates before accidentally bumping the trooper. Cameras showed the trooper having words with Harbor afterwards.
Texas A&M police later put out a statement on social media shortly after 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT.
“We are aware of the incident in the (northeast) tunnel involving a DPS trooper. He has been relieved of his game day assignment,” the statement on X read.
South Carolina went on to add a field goal in the closing seconds of the quarter to go up 30-3. But the Aggies, looking to avoid a big Week 12 upset, have come roaring back, scoring 28 consecutive points to take a 31-30 4th-quarter lead on the Gamecocks.
