Texas A&M wore its all-black jerseys in 2024 against LSU, the first time in over a decade it had done so.

In 2025, the Aggies will be donning the all-blacks again.

On Saturday, Texas A&M announced that Oct. 4 against Mississippi State has been designated as a blackout game. The Aggies have won the last 2 meetings in the series, including a 34-24 win in Starkville on Oct. 19, 2024, that saw Le’Veon Moss record a pair of rushing touchdowns.

In the blackout game against LSU in 2024, the Aggies went into the locker room at halftime trailing 17-7. A&M starting QB Conner Weigman was then benched in favor of Marcel Reed.

The Aggies responded in a big way. They forced turnovers on 3 straight Tigers possessions, turning all three takeaways into points as Reed recorded 3 rushing touchdowns in the second half. He finished with 9 carries for 62 yards and completed both of his passes for 70 yards.

With Reed entering the season as the starter, the Aggies, who are ranked in the top 25 in the preseason polls, will have their sights on a first-ever College Football Playoff berth. They open the 2025 season at home against UTSA on Aug. 30.
