Texas A&M will reportedly pick up a transfer commitment from a talented tight end who is ending his college career in his hometown. Houston Thomas, a four-year player at UTSA, will pledge to the Aggies, per a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
Thomas was a member of the Roadrunners’ 2022 recruiting class who attended College Station High School and played 10 minutes from Kyle Field. He signed with UTSA and redshirted his true freshman season, making one catch in four games.
His opportunities gradually increased. In 2023, he made nine catches for 101 yards. Then, in 2024, he enjoyed his best season yet, taking in 34 catches for 470 yards and three touchdowns. His first career touchdown came against Rice. In 2025, he posted 34 catches for 307 yards and a pair of TDs.
With four years at UTSA behind him, Thomas has one season of eligibility remaining, which he’ll spend close to home. And it comes as the Aggies have surged under Mike Elko, making their first-ever trip to the College Football Playoff in 2025.
Tight end will be a position of need for Texas A&M in 2026 with Nate Boerkircher and Amari Niblack’s eligibility having been exhausted. Theo Melin Öhrström, though, appears set to return.
