Texas will be without one of its top assistants for Saturday’s game at Kansas State.

According to Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman, Longhorns offensive coordinator Tim Beck is in the hospital being treated for an infection and will not travel with the team for Saturday’s game. He is expected to return to the team on Sunday.

“It’s unfortunate that Tim will not be able to be at the game with us, and we wish him a speedy recovery,” Texas coach Tom Herman said in a statement shared by Davis. “We’ll pull together as coaches, and our offensive staff will call plays collaboratively.”

Beck is in his second season as the offensive coordinator for the Longhorns. He previously served as an assistant at Ohio State (2015-16), Nebraska (2008-14) and Kansas (2005-07).

Beck was hired by the Longhorns in January 2017, shortly after Herman was hired to be coach.

Texas, which is ranked No. 18, has won three straight games after opening the season with a loss to Maryland. The Longhorns own victories over Tulsa, USC and TCU.

Texas and Kansas State are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
