Texas football is on a roll. Following the Longhorns’ win over Texas A&M on Friday night, Steve Sarkisian and Co. received a commitment from Easton Royal, the No. 1 wide receiver in the Class of 2027 according to Rivals.

Royal is the first commitment of the 2027 cycle for Texas, and it’s obviously a big one right off the bat. The New Orleans, Louisiana native stands at 5-11, 195 pounds and chose Texas over offers from just about every major college football program you can think of, including his home state school LSU, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

Not every recruiting service currently agrees that Royal is the No. 1 receiver in the county in the 2027 class, but all have him listed as a top 5 prospect at the position. According to 247Sports, Royal is considered to be the No. 3 receiver in the country, as well as the No. 12 overall prospect in the 2027 class.

Royal finished his sophomore season at Brother Martin high school with 14 touchdowns and well over 1,000 all-purpose yards. He also runs track and will use that speed as a primary weapon in the college game.
