Texas hoops adds massive transfer commitment from former Virginia center

Former Virginia center Kadin Shedrick was one of the most sought-after prospects in the transfer portal. The 6-11 big man started 15 games for the Cavaliers last season and boasts an incredible 67% hit rate from within 10 feet.
And on Sunday, Shedrick announced that he will play for Texas in 2023/24. The Longhorns beat out the likes of Duke, Xavier, Kansas State and Missouri for the rising senior center.
Shedrick spoke to On3Sports about his commitment to the Longhorns prior to his announcement Sunday:
“I chose Texas because I trust the vision that Coach Terry has for me,” Shedrick said. “I’m looking forward to play in a free offense while still playing defense at a high level. I feel like I can show more of what I can do on both ends of the floor at Texas.”

Texas’ frontcourt earned a massive boost Sunday, but not only because of Shedrick’s commitment. Dylan Disu, who starred in Texas’ run to the Elite 8 this past season, announced he would be returning for one more season in Austin earlier Sunday afternoon.
Texas now needs to turn its focus to replacing Marcus Carr and Sir’Jabari Rice, who ran out of eligibility this past season.
