Texas scored a massive win on the recruiting trail Friday, some 24 hours before opening the new season on the field.

Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin wide receiver Jaime Ffrench announced his commitment to the Longhorns Friday morning. The 6-foot-1 pass-catcher selected Texas over Miami, LSU, and Tennessee, adding to what might very well be the best group of pass-catchers in any class in the country.

Texas also holds commitments from 5-star Sachse wideout Kaliq Lockett, 4-star Houston tight end Nick Townsend, and 4-star Calhoun (Ga.) tight end Emaree Winston. Ffrench is a 5-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite and ranked as the No. 19 overall prospect in the country.

Ffrench took an official visit to Texas in June — the last stop in his summer tour to each of his 4 finalists. The Longhorns had been viewed as the favorites in his recruitment for some time.

A multi-sport athlete, Ffrench also plays basketball and runs track for Mandarin. He was the leading receiver on his team as a junior last fall, bringing in 62 receptions for 1,247 yards and 14 touchdowns to help his team advance to the Florida 4M state title game.

He had 5 touchdown catches as a sophomore and 2 as a freshman. Ffrench’s brother, Maurice, set the single-season program record for receptions at Pitt in 2019 with 96.

His pledge gives Texas its 19th known commitment in the 2025 class. The Longhorns’ group ranks seventh nationally in the 247 team rankings. You can see Ffrench’s highlight tape below, via Hudl:
