Texas lands in-state commitment from blue-chip offensive lineman

Texas has received a verbal commitment from North Richland Hills (Texas) Richland offensive lineman Daniel Cruz.

The 6-foot-4, 297-pound Cruz is a 4-star recruit in the Class of 2024. He revealed his decision on Wednesday, picking the Longhorns over Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma. He took official visits to 3 of his 4 finalists — including to Texas this past weekend.

Cruz started at right guard as a freshman on his varsity team. As a sophomore, he earned a Texas District 4-5A D-I first-team selection. He’s the 13th-ranked interior offensive lineman in the class and the 226th overall prospect in the country, per the Composite.

With his verbal pledge, the Longhorns are up to 8 known commitments in the 2024 cycle. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
