Texas is adding a massive building block for the future of the offensive line, landing a premier in-state piece with a 4th of July commitment.
On Friday, Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns picked up a commitment from prized in-state lineman John Turntine III. A 4-star recruit out of North Crowley High School, Turntine was also down to considering Texas A&M, Michigan and Stanford before committing to Texas.
Turntine is the top in-state commitment for the Longhorns so far in the 2026 recruiting cycle and a major win for Sarkisian and his staff:

Turntine is listed at 6-foot-3.5 and 285 pounds, and he’s one of the top interior offensive linemen in the entire country. Rated as a 4-star recruit per the 247 Sports Composite, he’s also the 36th overall player in the country, regardless of position, and the No. 3 IOL in the nation.
In terms of Texas-based prospects, he’s No. 3 overall for 2026. The top 2 Texas recruits have committed to Texas Tech and Houston, and Turntine’s commitment comes on the same day that 5-star OT Felix Ojo committed to Texas Tech with reports of a historic NIL deal.
The addition of Turntine brings Texas up to 17 hard commitments for the cycle, a group that ranks 11th nationally per the team composite. He’s also the 3rd top-50 player in the class as the Longhorns try to compile a special group.
