Texas is looking to build off last season’s run to the College Football Playoff, where the Longhorns lost to eventual national champion, Ohio State. Texas has a ton of talent coming back to Austin, and once again appears to be a team that looks like it can win a national championship.
To win in today’s college football, teams are going to have to be willing to spend some money.
They save everything is bigger in Texas, and according to a new survey, that rings true when it comes spending money. Per a survey conducted by On3’s Pete Nakos among college coaches, general managers, agents, collective leaders and more, no one spent more this season than Texas:
Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns were voted as the top spending team, receiving 17 votes. Right behind them was Texas Tech, who finished with 16 votes. Fellow SEC and in-state rival Texas A&M was tied with Miami for fifth with 13 votes.
In all, 22 teams received votes, with 11 of those teams being from the SEC. Spending the money is one thing, but for it to be worth it for Texas, Sarkisian and the Longhorns have to get that first title since the Vince Young-led championship team in 2005.
