Everyone wants to play in the SEC — even Texas and Oklahoma.

That’s a major reason why so many elite recruits sign on to play for SEC programs. To be the best, you have to play the best and the Southeastern Conference has proven year after year for well over a decade that it has no peer in college football.

The SEC’s popularity is a selling point on the recruiting trail and something that Eli Drinkwitz is using against Texas and Oklahoma following reports that both programs are interested in joining the league.

During his first appearance at SEC Media Days, Drinkwitz offered up his thoughts on the Longhorns and Sooners wanting to join the league.

“Like I tell recruits all the time, we are the best league in college football and everyone wants to play there. Now you got two iconic brands that want to join too. It’s an exclusive club and not everyone gets in, so good luck, especially if A&M has anything to do with it.”
