Texas has picked up a pair of transfer portal running backs in Hollywood Smothers (NC State) and Raleek Brown (Arizona State) after losing Tre Wisner to Florida State. That’s made one current member of the Longhorns’ RB room expendable.
Christian Clark, who has been with the Longhorns for a pair of seasons, will reportedly enter the transfer portal, according to On3. He will have three seasons of elibigility remaining.
Clark was a four-star recruit in Steve Sarkisian‘s 2024 recruiting class and was ranked the country’s No. 23 running back on 247Sports’ Composite. After redshirting after suffering an Achilles injury ahead of the 2024 season, he emerged as a decent rushing option for the Longhorns in 2025. In eight games, he took 55 carries for 236 yards and two touchdowns.
Clark is the 22nd player of the cycle to enter the transfer portal for Texas. He’s also the fourth Longhorns RB to enter the portal.
The aforementioned Tre Wisner, who ran for a team-high 597 yards in 2025, is now with the Seminoles. Jerrick Gibson, another four-star recruit in 2024, has pledged to Purdue.
Meanwhile, Rickey Stewart, who signed with the Longhorns out of the 2025 class, has yet to commit to another program. And CJ Baxter, a Top 20 player in the 2023 class who led the team in rushing yards as a true freshman, is looking for a fresh start elsewhere after battling injury.
