Texas already added Auburn transfer phenom Cam Coleman to its wide receiver room for the 2026 season.

Now, the position appears to have gotten even better for Steve Sarkisian‘s program. Texas signed Wake Forest transfer wideout Sterling Berkhalter, according to a report by CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz as well as 247Sports’ Jordan Scruggs on Friday morning.

Berkhalter is a 6-foot-3, 203-pounder who made an impact last season in the ACC with 30 catches for 416 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Demon Deacons.

Texas won’t just be getting an immediate impact guy at the wideout position to add to Coleman’s big arrival. The Longhorns will be getting a really experienced player in Berkhalter, who brings 5 years of that experience in college football. Berkhalter’s crazy college football journey has already taken him to North Carolina A&T, where he spent 2 years, and to Cincinnati before he even arrived at Wake Forest.

Berkhalter is a Cincinnati native who only played in 2 games with his hometown program in 2023 before he redshirted. He followed that up by catching 11 passes for 191 yards and 1 touchdown at Cincinnati during the 2024 season before deciding to leave home and transfer to Wake Forest.

It proved to be a good decision for Berkhalter, who finished with career-highs in catches and receiving yards this past season with the Demon Deacons.

Berkhalter has piled up 76 catches for 1,083 yards and 5 touchdowns during his collegiate career, and now Texas is apparently set to cash in on that potential production and experience in 2026.
