Texas softball pitcher taken to hospital after taking throw to the face against Alabama

Alabama softball is currently facing Texas in the Super Regional.
With Alabama leading 3-0 in the top of the 2nd inning, Texas pitcher Miranda Elish took a throw to the face from the catcher. The Tide’s Elissa Brown attempted to drop down a bunt (it was ruled a dead ball), and Texas’ catcher Mary Iakopo thought Alabama’s runner was advancing to second. So, she picked it up and gunned it to second and accidentally hit Elish in the face.

Alabama is one win away from advancing to the Women’s College World Series, but our thoughts are certainly with Elish and her recovery.
