Jalon Jones was a 4-star dual-threat quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class, signing with Florida and enrolling early.

During the Gators’ spring game, the talented incoming freshman ran for 63 yards and had a touchdown, showing signs of a promising future.

However, on Tuesday afternoon, it was reported by AL.com’s Matt Zenitz that Jones had entered the NCAA transfer portal:

Per Thomas Goldkamp of 247Sports, the decision for Jones to explore transfer options was a mutual one:

That, obviously, is very interesting to hear, but the Gators do have starting QB Feleipe Franks and promising young QB Emory Jones on the roster at the moment.

Jalon Jones is a Virginia native, so we’ll see if he ends up somewhere closer to home or if he goes to a big-name program for his next stop.
