Former Kentucky coach Hal Mumme named head coach for new spring league football team

The godfather of the Air Raid has landed a new job as Hal Mumme has been announced as the first coach of The Spring League’s Lineman team.
Mumme previously served as head coach of Kentucky from 1997-2000 and was a mentor of Mike Leach, as the two worked together at a number of programs. Mumme most recently served as the offensive coordinator of the Dallas Renegades in the XFL.
During his time in Lexington, Mumme went 20-26 overall but he helped Tim Couch develop into an elite SEC passer and eventually the No. 1 overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft.
If you are unfamiliar with The Spring League, it’s a new league with eight teams playing out of Houston and Indianapolis. The season consists of 24 games played over six weeks. The league’s games are set to be televised by FS1 and FOX.
The league is set to serve as a developmental league helping players that hope to one day reach the NFL.
