Thomas Brown has developed a solid career in the NFL, and now the recent Super Bowl champion could be in line for a “natural promotion.”

With the Los Angeles Rams looking for a new offensive coordinator since Kevin O’Connell left for the Minnesota Vikings, Brown, the team’s running backs coach is seen as a possibility to fill that role. Jordan Rodrigue of The Athletic reported it this way: “Keep hearing that one guy to keep a close eye on this/next week is Rams RB coach/assistant HC Thomas Brown, especially as it pertains to Kevin O’Connell’s staff assembly and that OC role. Would be a natural promotion for the Rams but McVay has also historically hired ‘outside.'”

Brown just finished his second season as running backs coach after 9 years as a college assistant. The former Georgia running back before the Rams served as the running backs’ coach at South Carolina during the 2019 season. Previously, he spent 3 seasons as the Miami Hurricanes’ offensive coordinator and running backs coach.

He also coached at Georgia and Wisconsin in similar roles, mainly coaching running backs.

Brown at Georgia helped the Bulldogs to the 2005 SEC championship. He finished his career as the fifth- leading rusher in Georgia history with 2,646 career yards and led the team in rushing in the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Brown scored 25 touchdowns in his collegiate career.
