Tim Brando always provides his ranking of the top 15 teams in college football after each week of action. This week was no different as the legendary announcer provided his updated list after a wild Week 8.
At the No. 1 spot, Brando has the Oregon Ducks. This is in line with the latest AP Poll, as the Ducks took the top spot following Texas’ loss to Georgia. At No. 2, Brando went with another B1G team with Penn State.
Miami takes the No. 3 spot after staying undefeated in Week 8, meanwhile, Georgia and Ohio State share the No. 4 spot. Iowa State rounds out Brando’s top 5 after surviving a close game against UCF.

Brando’s entire rankings are as follows:
- Oregon
- Penn State
- Miami
- Georgia & Ohio State
- Iowa State
- Texas
- BYU
- Indiana
- LSU
- Tennessee
- Pittsburgh
- Boise State
- Kansas State
- Notre Dame
- Illinois
Brando listed Texas A&M, Missouri, SMU, Ole Miss, Army, Vanderbilt, Navy, and Alabama as teams that just missed the cut.
These rankings show that Brando values team record over strength of schedule or quality of wins like the AP Poll. For example, Iowa State, BYU, and Indiana are all much higher in Brando’s rankings than the AP Poll.
Army and Navy are also undefeated teams who just missed Brando’s top 15. In the latest AP Poll, the teams are at No. 23 and No. 24. Clemson is the lone AP top 10 team that does not make an appearance in Brando’s top 15.
It will be interesting to see how these rankings change after Week 9. This upcoming slate features several ranked matchups including No. 8 LSU vs. No. 14 Texas A&M and No. 21 Missouri vs. No. 15 Alabama.
