Emory Jones may be the starting quarterback at Florida, but many feel that redshirt freshman Anthony Richardson deserves the role. It’s paved the way for Dan Mullen to run a 2-quarterback system to make use of the strengths of both players.

Tim Tebow was asked by Laura Rutledge about the Florida quarterback situation on “SEC Nation” on Saturday, and he recalled this year’s scenario to his own experiences as a freshman in Gainesville that received playing time behind starter Chris Leak.

“I think when both of them can play together in unity and harmony, I think this University of Florida team is going to be a lot better than if it was just one of them, because Anthony doesn’t have the experience, he doesn’t know the offense as Emory does, and Emory when he’s comfortable, he’s. dynamic runner and dynamic thrower. He just needs to be a little bit more consistent with his reads, and also understanding the game plan a little bit, not having to force it.”

Tebow added that he felt Jones was thinking too much about living up to the expectations that were set after Florida’s stellar offensive performance under Kyle Trask.

“I do think there’s a little bit of pressure. When I watched him last week, I thought he felt like there was pressure like, ‘I need to score every time,’ just like their offense did last year.”
