Tim Tebow has identified a key matchup for Tennessee if it hopes to spring an upset Saturday at Alabama.
Tebow understands Tennessee has the best running game in the SEC, but it’ll face a test against an Alabama defense that’s been “vicious the last 5 weeks.”
Alabama is third in the SEC in rushing defense, and against Arkansas, Texas A&M and Ole Miss have allowed 100 yards or less on the ground. But the Vols enter with an average of 231 yards per game on the ground, which is 6th in the country. Conversely, Alabama allows just 104 yards per game rushing, which is 19th in the country.
Tebow shared what impresses him the most about the Tide.
“It starts with the double teams. And when you have great double teams with your defensive tackles, now your linebackers can flow sideline to sideline, can fill the gaps and can stop the run,” Tebow said. “They’re doing a great job of filling these double teams, getting off the blocks and then stopping the offensive line from even getting movement up front.”
