Tim Tebow is one of the greatest college quarterbacks of all time, but he’s apparently getting ready to accept another current signal caller into the all-time great club. That would be Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Tebow spoke to reporters Friday in front of Moore Hall on Alabama’s campus Friday and absolutely raved about the Crimson Tide signal caller.
“Really impressed,” Tebow said, according to 247Sports. “He does stuff other people just hope they can do, he really can. I think if you look at just certain traits over the course of the last 20 years, there’s a few guys that do some better things in certain areas — some people run better, some people are stronger, maybe a stronger arm. But when you combine all of it, phew, he’s special.
“And I think he’ll be one of the best to ever do it.”
Tebow won the 2007 Heisman Trophy, and despite a late surge from Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray, Tagovailoa is leading the race to become the next winner of college football’s most coveted individual award.
The Alabama quarterback has completed 69.2 percent of his passes for 2,865 yards and a school-record 31 touchdowns. He’s also chipped in four rushing touchdowns and has thrown just two interceptions.
Furthermore, Tagovailoa leads the country with a 12.08 yards per attempt average and is top 10 in passing touchdowns and completion percentage. And he’s only played in the fourth quarter once this year.
