Time for the Willie Taggart era to end already? Here’s how much it would cost Florida State

Willie Taggart served his third game as Florida State coach on Saturday, and Seminoles fans are already panicking about this season.
Florida State lost to Virginia Tech, 24-3, in its season opener, then barely got by Samford, 36-26, in Week 2. This week, the Seminoles were losing to Syracuse, 23-0, in the fourth quarter.
It may not upset fans if Florida State hit the reset button by going ahead and firing Taggart either now or at the end of the season.
According to USA Today’s Dan Wolken, it would cost Florida State $21.25 million to get rid of Taggart at the end of this season. And that doesn’t include how much guaranteed money the school would owe his assistants.
Taggart is in his first season as Seminoles coach after former coach Jimbo Fisher left to take the job at Texas A&M. Fisher coached Florida State from 2010-17.
Prior to joining the Seminoles, Taggart coached Oregon for one season in 2017, going 7-5. He previously served as the coach at Western Kentucky (2010-12) and South Florida (2013-16).
