Todd Golden has said that Aleks Szymczyk would expect to return after Christmas as he heals a broken foot.

But on Friday, Golden told reporters that the sophomore center, who broke his foot in September, is cleared to return for the Missouri game on Saturday.

The German power forward, who is 6-foot-10 and 250 pounds, returned to practices earlier this month, as reported by Swamp247, and was cleared to return to games this week.

Szymczyk last season appeared in 14 games and averaged 2.1 points and 1.3 rebounds in 7.8 minutes per game. He appeared in the final 7 games of the season after Colin Castleton’s injury, and averaged 3.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game over that stretch.

Szymczyk will add depth to a big-man rotation of the likes of Micah Handlogten, Tyrese Samuel, Alex Condon and Thomas Haugh.

The Gators (11-6) and Missouri (8-9) are each trying to find their stride in the SEC. The Tigers are 0-4 in league play, while the Gators are 1-3. The Gators on Saturday are also looking for their first road win of the season, while Missouri is 6-4 at home.
