Tom Hart shared his feedback on Alabama after the Week 2 loss to Texas during a Tuesday appearance on McElroy And Cubelic In The Morning.

It was Alabama’s first defeat against Texas since 1982 and dropped the Crimson Tide to No. 10 in the AP poll.

The ESPN broadcaster says a priority for head coach Nick Saban and Alabama will be to shore up the inconsistencies of sophomore quarterback Jalen Milroe.

Milroe finished with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions against the Longhorns. Hart was alarmed by a particular element of Milroe’s performance.

“I think that the knock on Jalen Milroe coming in and what we saw at practice last year and what I saw at practice this week was the inaccuracy on intermediate throws. That was a constant refrain,” Hart said. “The deep ball is beautiful. Let’s be better at the accuracy on intermediate throws.”

Hart expressed another aspect from Milroe that needs fine tuning.

“The lack of coverage recognition was really shocking to me,” Hart said. “The mistakes that I saw were he didn’t know there was a defender coming in from that side. He didn’t know they were in zone.”

While Hart said Alabama’s offense as a whole has to be better, Milroe is the central figure for that collective improvement to be viable.

“Offensively, they just have to be much more efficient,” Hart said. “You could probably blame all of those units but if your quarterback’s not sure what the coverage is, then I just don’t know if that can be a successful part of your game plan.”

Alabama will aim to bounce back when they travel to face South Florida in Week 3 on Sept. 16 (3:30 p.m. EST/ABC).
