Tom Hart, SEC Network broadcaster, names dark horse to reach SEC Championship Game

Tom Hart will be on the call for the SEC Network’s Saturday night games this fall, along with Cole Cubelic and Jordan Rodgers.

He’ll likely make visits to Tuscaloosa and Athens to see the top 2 teams in the SEC, but who else could challenge for those spots?

Per The Tennessean, Hart thinks the 2 best dark-horse picks to make it to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game are Kentucky and Tennessee, in that order:

That leaves the East, and the caveat is, will Chris Rodriguez’s absence for Kentucky last long enough to cost them a game? I don’t know the answer to that. Will they need Chris Rodriguez to beat Florida? Will he be in that game? Can they win without him? I think they probably can win without him.

So, the only one I think would really have a chance to reach Atlanta other than Alabama or Georgia would be Kentucky, and right behind them, Tennessee. But that’s going way out on a limb.

Will we see anyone take down Alabama or Georgia this year? As Hart said, it won’t be easy, but there are some other good teams in the SEC that will be eager for the opportunity to get to Atlanta.
