Many wondered if Georgia was the team that deserved to make the College Football Playoff over the weekend with Notre Dame getting blown out by Clemson and Alabama handling Oklahoma in the national semifinals but if you were to ask Tom Herman that question, it doesn’t appear he’d agree with that argument.

During Herman’s Monday morning Sugar Bowl press conference, the Texas coach was asked if Georgia was the best team he’s studied on film this season. His answer wasn’t quite clear and he even referenced Oklahoma without specifically naming the Sooners.

“I don’t know. Our rival to our north is pretty dang good, too. We had two great games against them,” Herman answered. “We respect the heck out of them. But different, it’s hard to say best, when you are talking about anything. I would say certainly different. I think they pose some unique challenges with how big they are up front, on both sides of the ball – which is something different for us.

“Best is difficult, they are certainly as good as any team we’ve played in our two years here.”

You can read that statement in multiple ways, this Georgia team may be the best Texas has seen under Herman’s tenure but may not exactly be the best, according to the Longhorn coach.

Herman may be singing a different tune come Tuesday night if UGA destroys Texas in the Sugar Bowl.
