Penn State graduate transfer QB Tommy Stevens announces he will finish his college career at Mississippi State

Mississippi State’s offseason quarterback competition just got more interesting.
That’s because Penn State graduate transfer Tommy Stevens has announced he will finish his college career in Starkville playing for this former offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead. Stevens will be eligible immediately at Mississippi State as a fifth-year season in 2019.
While many suspect the starting job in Starkville will be won by Keytaon Thompson, Moorhead has yet to anoint the junior as his starter following spring practice. Mississippi State also recruited Kelly Bryant after he left Clemson, which doesn’t exactly bode well for the staff’s confidence in Thompson to lead the offense in 2019.
For his college career, Stevens has passed for only 304 yards with a four to one touchdown to interception ratio. He has also rushed for 506 yards and eight scores. Despite never starting for Penn State, Stevens already ranks 8th all-time in QB rushing yards in the school’s history. He’s seen action in 16 games over the previous two seasons at Penn State and could potentially serve as a plug and play option for the Bulldogs — should he win the starting job this offseason.
