Tommy White injury: Jay Johnson provides update on White’s status following season opener

Tommy White transferred to LSU with high expectations after a huge freshman campaign at NC State. Unfortunately, his season opener was cut short on Friday.
In the bottom of the 1st, White made an immediate impact with an RBI single. It was the first run of LSU’s season in White’s first at-bat as a Tiger. Unfortunately, White was injured on the base paths while diving back into first base.
After the game, head coach Jay Johnson addressed White’s injury. Johnson admitted he doesn’t believe the injury is as bad as things initially looked but it is likely White will not play on Saturday.
Johnson officially labeled it as a shoulder ailment for White:
“I don’t think it was as bad as maybe it looked — I don’t think he will play tomorrow,” said Johnson. “Probably as positive as it could be, but I don’t know everything. It was the shoulder.”

Hopefully, White does not miss much time with the Tigers looking for “Tommy Tanks” to provide a major impact in the middle of the lineup.
A shame, Tommy White injured in the first inning and taken out of the game. Hope it’s nothing serious. pic.twitter.com/abndq282dh
