Tony Barbee’s tenure as Auburn’s head coach didn’t go well, as he didn’t have a single winning season in four years at the helm of the program.

Now that he’s an assistant at Kentucky, though, he’s seemingly doing alright for himself, though he did cause a stir on Sunday.

As you can see below, he tweeted a laughing emoji while Auburn was in the midst of a massive loss to Clemson:

On Wednesday, Barbee said the tweet wasn’t about the Tigers, saying he wasn’t even watching basketball at the time (via AL.com):

“I wasn’t watching games right then,” Barbee told reporters Wednesday in Atlanta, where Kentucky is preparing for the Sweet 16. “It had nothing to do with basketball or any university, so why people took it that way I don’t know.”

Really, Tony? You don’t know why people took it as a shot at Auburn? Maybe because it came out at the exact time your former school was getting its butt kicked in the NCAA Tournament.

Perhaps it wasn’t about Auburn, but for Barbee to say he doesn’t know why people took it that way is patently ridiculous.
