Brock Bowers continues to draw a likeness to some of the greatest tight ends in NFL history after just one season in the league.

Former quarterbacks Tony Romo and Matt Ryan put the former Georgia star in some rare company on Monday. On a recent appearance on CBS Sports, both praised the former Georgia standout, now-Las Vegas Raider, for his rare size, athleticism and football IQ.

Ryan, reflecting on his own career with Tony Gonzalez for the Atlanta Falcons, and Romo’s time with Jason Witten for the Dallas Cowboys, said, “I look at a young Brock Bowers right now as a young player. You know, we were both lucky. I played with Tony Gonzalez, you played with Jason Witten.”

Romo jumped in to emphasize the significance of that comparison. “Those are both top-5 tight ends ever,” he said.

“I look at a young Brock Bowers though,” Ryan continued. “In that kind of category like, ‘that’s a guy if you’re a young QB and you’ve got 10 years to play with him,’ I just think he’s going to turn into an unreal player.”

Bowers is coming off a historic rookie campaign for Las Vegas after a dominant college career at Georgia. He heads into his second NFL season with 112 receptions for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns.
