Texas programs still tend to have the advantage over the top players ,but it’s no longer just the Longhorns. Texas A&M’s entry into the SEC West has opened the door to Texas much wider for the conference and Ole Miss has made themselves at home.
Based on 247Sports’ 2016 composite rankings by state, here are Texas’ 10 best prospects and where they’re headed (comments where necessary):
1. Gregory Little, OT, 6-6, 305, Allen (five stars, committed to Ole Miss): Little, the second-ranked prospect in the nation committed to the Rebels two weeks.
2. Ed Oliver, DT, 6-2, 277, Houston (five stars, committed to Houston): The 10-ranked prospect in the nation committed to Houston in the summer and surprisingly hasn’t wavered.
3. Brandon Jones, S, 6-0, 195, Nacogdoches (five stars, uncommitted): On the surface it’s a Longhorns-Aggies battle with A&M already receiving the first official visit. He’ll visit Texas on the weekend of Jan 15 and keep an eye on a potential Auburn official before national signing day.

8. Deontay Anderson, S, 6-1, 190, Manvel (four stars, uncommitted): Anderson is down to Ole Miss, Texas and LSU — with Ole Miss being the favorite — but Texas (Jan. 16) and LSU (Jan. 30) getting the January official visits.
Who is trying to recruit #UAAllAmerica S @DTRAIN__ ? That would be #Sooner QB Kyler Murray. But it's #OleMiss #LSU #Texas
