It wasn’t the news Les Miles wanted to hear just stepping back on the practice field for another football season, that much we know.
Dylan Moses’ decommitment last week sent a shockwave through Tigertown and caused a couple late-night phone calls among LSU’s coaching staff scrambling to solve a major question on the recruiting trail:

In an instant, Alabama jumped back to the forefront for the Baton Rouge native’s services, along with several others including Texas and Florida. According to 247Sports’ Crystal Ball however, it remains a two-horse race between the Tigers and Crimson Tide.
According to his father, LSU is still out front.
The consensus five-star linebacker who has been a name synonymous with blue-chipper since the 8th grade has accumulated an eye-popping 328 tackles over his first two prep seasons at University Lab. Moses isn’t considered a scheme-specific defender and would made an immediate impact no matter where he chooses to play.
Moses is the most noteworthy prospect the Western Division rivals are after in 2017, but there are several others in the next year’s class that take precedent at the the moment, including five-star tackle Gregory Little.
Little decommitted from Texas A&M in July a few days after being named MVP at his position at Nike’s The Opening football camp in Beaverton, Oregon. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound mountain of a blocker is the No. 2 player overall in his class, according to 247Sports, and recently took unofficials to Alabama and Ole Miss.
Little reportedly has official visits planned for Texas A&M A&M, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State and Ole Miss later this fall. According to most recruiting insiders, Texas A&M’s primary adversary for his signature is the Crimson Tide.
Alabama is also in the mix for five-star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence (Wake Forest, North Carolina), but Florida is trending as the favorite. Lawrence is at the top of Jim McElwain’s priority list for next season’s class and hopes assistants Chris Rumph and Geoff Collins can hold off the Crimson Tide’s Mario Cristobal for the commitment.
North Carolina is hot on his trail in recent weeks.
If Florida could land Lawrence, wrapping up another five-star in wideout Nate Craig-Myers would vault McElwain’s second signing class into the Top 15 nationally.
Craig-Myers is the No. 1 receiver for 2016, a Tampa native with superb size at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. He decommitted from Auburn in May and has nearly 50 FBS offers.
Florida State has believed to have the edge, but the Tigers and Gators are doing everything in their power to get him on campus later this season.
